Every Friday
Celebrating one year of niche Relay commentary
It’s Relay’s first trip around the sun. Wish us happy birthday (please). Whenever you joined us, wherever you joined us from, we’re so glad you did. Talk about a year. We’ve been all over the place. Zigging and zagging around the mess out there, trying our best to translate our online feeds and group chat snippets into cognizant, coherent, meaningful reads for you every week. We hope we were your sliver of laid back, not so serious sanity in our first year.
We’re charging hard into our second year here. We hope you’re doing the same. As usual, keep checking in, week in and week out. We’ll be here.
Year one done. Cheers to the beginning of the second, and thanks for reading along.
Relay.
“Let us toast to animal pleasures, to escapism, to rain on the roof and instant coffee, to unemployment insurance and library cards, to absinthe and good-hearted landlords, to music and warm bodies and contraceptives... and to the "good life", whatever it is and wherever it happens to be.”
— Hunter S. Thompson

Where We’re Headed
In year one we learned a lot about what resonates with you, dear readers, and we love writing for you all. But, we learned as much about what resonates with us. What trips our trigger, if you will, writing these posts. Looking back, we’ve put together an entire years worth of content on what we as a group and the rest of the world out there was thinking about. A better journal or diary than any of us could have managed.
We’d be lying if we told you we had year two planned out to the week. Or even the month. Not our style. But, we have some things cooking in the kitchen, and as year one Relay editions evolved into what they are today (left hand up if you were there when we had a dedicated Washington section each week), year two will do the same.
If you didn’t hear, niche micro-blogs are in for 2026, so give us a subscribe.

Randy will see you in year two.
Never forget.
Thanks for reading—or for mega scrolling all the way down here.
The internet is an overwhelming mess of headlines, ads, and mid takes from the worst people you know. Big Tech owns our attention spans. Everything is content. Nothing makes sense.
We’re not here to “fix discourse” or “build a better internet.” Relay is just our attempt to riff on what we’re already talking about at happy hour without feeling like we’ve been hit by a content truck. Some analysis, some memes, call it a day.
You might like it. Tag along.

Honored to share a birthday 🤝 keep crushing it!
